Have you ever had a family come to you who are uncertain of the benefits of chiropractic? What if a family is unsure about chiropractic?
Have you ever felt uncomfortable explaining the benefits of chiropractic to families and parents when all they want to know is how does chiropractic help my child?
Chiropractic is going to be completely foreign to many families. So it’s important to know how to address a family’s concerns and questions to make sure they feel 100% comfortable and understand the benefits chiropractic can provide.
So what should you do when a family is not quite sure?
In this video I look at ways you can optimize your communication, prioritize your examinations and finish the consultation so parents understand exactly what chiropractic care can provide for their child.
Firstly you need to provide a thorough exam and report of findings.
Like any initial consultation with an adult you want to understand why a family has made the appointment and what they are worried about. This gives you the opportunity to prioritise certain exams you need to accomplish and identify the most important tests for the family.
- Are they worried about their childs back or neck pain? Posture pictures are one of the easiest ways you can show parents where their child’s body is not coping.
- Summarise how many areas of the child’s body need to be monitored because they are of concern. This really illustrates to families that their child needs help.
- Make sure you link the concerns of the parent to the child’s overall function and health.
This is the single most important thing you need to nail. Otherwise you will find it extremely difficult to start care with some families. You need to identify and address the parents needs.
