How to Start Your Regular Consult With Kids

Want to wow your families? Want to engage the kids in healthy decision making between appointments?

When working with kids, we want to make the experience something that is wonderful but also something that actually changes the way that they work at home. We want to talk to them about how to take care of their body and how chiropractic is supporting them long term.

In this video, I share three ways to start your regular consults with kids to ensure that they are engaged and having fun.

The Kids Check-List

When working with kids, I want to make sure that they understand what they need to do with their body to keep it healthy and also support them to keep their switches on long term. So when they come into the room, I ask them a series of questions. This not only engages them in the process, but helps to make sure they are getting the idea of what they need to do every week to ensure that their body is working at its best.

How Are Your Switches?

The next thing I want to do is really connect them with their bodies. I want the kids to understand how their body is functioning and get to know what certain things feel like. I ask them – Have your switches turned off? Are there any parts of your body you know need a good adjustment today? – This allows them to be aware of what is going on.

The Weeks Accomplishments

At the start of each consult, if I do the exact same thing every time, kids are going to get bored so we need to mix it up a little. I will ask them what their accomplishments are for that week. What is something that they have done that they are really proud of? Once we have talked about this, we want to make sure they understand how having a healthy body has ensured that they can achieve those things at a better and faster rate or that they just feel fantastic when they achieve those accomplishments.

Well Kids Program Ensures Your Families Stay On Track

The Well Kids Program keeps families on track and one of the things that our practices do is have a Well Kid of the Week. We use a poster and write the child’s name on there. It may be that they have done all the things they need to do to keep their switches turned on for longer or it could be a great accomplishment for sport or at school.

When working with families we really want to ensure that we are engaging them in what chiropractic is and what it has to offer and how that improves a body’s resilience and health long term.

Wow the families in your practice and continue to support hundreds of children in your community through your exceptional paediatric chiropractic care.
