When you perform a function-based examination there is a lot to get through. It can feel tedious and tiring for the child if you don’t have strategies to make the process fun and engaging to ensure that you get through your exam. This is the final of 3 videos where I will go through 9 ways I make it through an extremely thorough examination in 15 minutes or less.
Kids respond to fun, challenges and different sensory stimuli. Knowing this, you can use that knowledge to your advantage. Here are the final 3 tips of 9 strategies I use in practice.
In this video (3 of 3) I will cover 3 crucial points that make exams easier!
1. Give very clear instructions
Give simple and clear one step instructions using as few words as possible. When working with kids you never know how well they can follow directions so keep it simple.
2. Praise and reward
There are plenty of simple rewards you can give to kids for getting through their exam. Be creative!
3. Ask plenty of questions
I love asking kids if they would like me to check their switches. The more invested they are in the exam, the more likely they are to complete what you ask without protest.
